Street Soccer! My new addiction!!

STREET SOCCER!!!   I'm starting to get hooked!  I grew up playing soccer, from when I was very young up until 10th grade when I moved from Cazenovia NY to Amherst MA.  I was the captain of the JV soccer team at that time, but decided to drop all sports/clubs when I moved, and focused more on skateboarding and learning my new wild environment around UMASS.

Fast forward 17 years, and I'm back on the soccer trip.  This time around though... I'm more interested in a version of soccer called "Street Soccer".  Street soccer is both new and old.  It's been around since soccer balls have been around, and people play it all over the world... but just recently is it getting recognition as a sport.  In it's most simplistic form, street soccer is soccer played on the street.  duh!!  It can be played anywhere, anytime!  That's the best part of it.  You don't have to be on a league or have a field.  You don't have to have a uniform or a referee.  Just grab a ball and go.

Since street soccer is rough on the average soccer ball, some people over at Calle Republic ( http://callerepublic.com/ ) have spend some R&D bucks and created a soccer ball called the "Primero" that has a rubberized outer layer to it that makes it  tougher than your average ball, and capable of withstanding the abuse that an urban environment can deliver.

It's a size 4 ball (which is smaller than regulation soccer), as well as a mid bounce ball... somewhere between a Futsal ball and a regular soccer ball.  (Note:  If you don't know what Futsal is, check out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futsal . )

I just got my Primero ball the other day, and I have to say that this thing rocks!!  It feels awesome!

Street soccer tends to focus much more on footwork and freestyle moves compared to regular soccer....which is why I'm so interested in it!!  I've got a long way to go before I can even be considered as "good" in the world of street soccer... but I'm willing to put in the time and effort to get there!

Special thanks to Calle Republic for creating that Primero ball.  It's leagues ahead of all others!.
