| The NY State Blues Fest was such a fun time!! Thanks to KJ and James, we got a chance to meet a lot of the local blues tallent, as well get a little tour of some of the great spots to play (and eat) in downtown Syracuse. That's a cool little city that deserves more respect than i've given it in the past. I used to live about 15 minutes outside of Syracuse when I was growing up, and had no idea of all this blues tallent that exists. KJ told me "if you can't find blues playing 3 or 4 nights a week in this town, you're not paying attention". Dino BBQ... so good...and so filling! Food Coma. That's all I can say. Also, Thanks to Colin for giving the SPHogan Blues Band tips on where we could set up to play our street gig. We brought along some spare car batteries with the intention of hooking them up to our amps for power. Turns out we didn't need them though. We ended up setting our gear up next to some out-door power outlets, and got a chance to play for a little over an hour in downtown Syracuse. That was my first time playing my music in that type of setting... and hearing the sound echo off the city walls was amazing to say the least. It opened up a lot of new doorways for us. We now have the gear to play on the go....which means you'll be hearing more of us, un-announced, playing on your streets. Also, if anyone reading this needs a band for an outdoor event in a remote location.... we've got the gear and power to play it. Thanks to everyone who helped us, housed us, showed us around, and made this weekend a great one! Take care, Shamus SPHogan Blues |
